No Contract iPhone Offered by ATT
The company announced that it will begin selling iPhones that do not require a service contract.
Wired PR News – AT&T Inc. announced on Thursday that it would begin selling iPhones that do not require the standard two-year service agreement. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the phones will be priced significantly higher than those sold under contract.
Michael Core, a spokesman for AT&T is said to have stated that the company will begin offering the phones for sale next Thursday. The phones will be priced from $599 to $699, which is $400 higher than the two available models sold under contract. The phones will also reportedly only work through carrier AT&T, and will be activated with regular plans for the iPhone, not including prepaid services.
The iPhone is made by Apple Inc., which as noted in the report, is expected to release a new iPhone version in the summer.
