Rehab Centers See Increase in Bankers

More financial professionals are entering rehab.

Rehab Centers in the U.S have seen an increase in people who work in the finance industry seeking help.Wired PR News – The financial crisis has seemed to drive a number of individuals who work in the finance industry to increase their consumption of alcohol and other substances. As reported by Reuters, more and more bankers and other financial professionals are entering treatment programs in the U.S. to overcome problems with addiction.Sigurd Ackerman who directs the Connecticut based Silver Hill Hospital rehab center is quoted in the report as stating, “We absolutely do see more people coming in naming either a job loss or huge financial reversals or big investments with Bernie Madoff… They’re being admitted with depression or increases in substance abuse, or both.”Increased anxiety about the economy is said to be one factor for the increase in substance abuse among these individuals.
