The son of the famed poet tragically commits suicide in Alaska.Wired PR News – The son of celebrated poet Sylvia Plath committed suicide last week in his home in Alaska. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), 47 year-old Nicholas Hughes, also the son of poet Ted Hughes hanged himself on March 16.Sylvia Plath took her own life 46 years ago in 1963. Hughes’ father reportedly tried to shield his children from the details surrounding her death for years following the tragedy, even burning a volume of her journals. Ted Hughes passed away in 1998 after a battle with cancer.Frieda Hughes, Nicholas’ sister, is quoted as remarking of her late brother in a statement released through the Times of London, “His lifelong fascination with fish and fishing was a strong and shared bond with our father… He was a loving brother, a loyal friend to those who knew him and, despite the vagaries that life threw at him, he maintained an almost childlike innocence and enthusiasm for the next project or plan.”As noted by the AP, Nicholas Hughes was unmarried and did not have any children.Photo Credit: Wikipedia User Wikiphotomeng
