Blockbuster Goes Digital with TiVo
The Dallas based company will sell and rent movies through the digital video medium.Wired PR News – Blockbuster Inc. will reportedly begin selling and renting movies through TiVo later in the year. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), customers will be able to purchase movies from the video rental company using TiVo Inc.’s popular digital video recorder.The move will put Blockbuster in a more competitive arena with rival Netflix Inc., which has already begun providing customers with a similar service through TiVo. As noted in the report, Blockbuster’s deal with TiVo is expected to make Blockbuster releases available a few weeks after they become available in stores, which will be quicker than pay-per-view. Users will be given access to 10,000 rental selections for prices ranging from $1.99 to $3.99, and can make movie purchases as well.Kevin A.
