A Dallas police officer is placed on administrative leave after an incident with an NFL player.Wired PR News – An officer with the Dallas Police Department is under investigation after preventing an NFL player from leaving a hospital parking lot to visit his dying relative. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Officer Robert Powell was placed on administrative leave after drawing his gun and threatening to arrest Houston Texans player Ryan Moats during a traffic stop, as Moats’ mother-in-law was dying.Video was released of the incident, which showcased a heated exchange between the officer, 26 year-old Moats, and his wife, Tamishia on Thursday.Dallas Police Chief David Kunkle is quoted in the AP report as stating of the incident, “When we at the command staff reviewed the tape, we were embarrassed, disappointed… It’s hard to find the right word and still be professional in my role as the police chief. But the behavior was not appropriate.”Kunkle, who apologized to the family of Moats, is further quoted as stating, “His behavior, in my opinion, did not exhibit the common sense, the discretion, the compassion that we expect our officers to exhibit.”Moats’ mother in law died shortly after the incident.
