The impending special election is said to be a test for Obama.
Wired PR News – Tuesday’s NY House special election is one of the most anticipated elections for the state in quite some time. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the outcome is viewed as a major test for President Barack Obama.
The election will be to replace Kirsten Gillibrand who took the place of Secretary of State Hilary Clinton in the Senate this year. The candidates vying for the NY House post are Republican Jim Tedisco and Democrat Scott Murphy. With the elections, Republicans are reportedly seeking to see a setback for the president’s swift push of certain plans they have notoriously been in disagreement with and Democrats are hoping a win will be an added boost for their side.
New York resident Preston Jenkins is quoted in the AP report of the anticipation surrounding the election, “I think they’re (the Democratic Party) looking for some kind of psychological change in the whole American public, and it’s kind of strange it would be a district like us that that would happen.”
