The FDA has issued a warning about the consumption of pistachios due to salmonella scare

The FDA advises consumers to avoid pistachios due to possible salmonella contamination.

Wired PR News – The Food and Drug Administration (FDA), recently issued a statement warning consumers to avoid eating products containing pistachios. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the warning comes as officials try to determine the source of potential contamination of salmonella after the agency received complaints of illnesses that may have a possible connection to pistachios. The FDA also reportedly received notification from Kraft Foods Inc. last week of salmonella detection in pistachios tested by the company.

Dr. David Acheson Food Safety Assistant Commissioner, is quoted in the report as stating of the matter, “Our advice to consumers is that they avoid eating pistachio products, and that they hold onto those products… The number of products that are going to be recalled over the coming days will grow, simply because these pistachio nuts have then been repackaged into consumer-level containers.”
