Several students have reportedly been expelled from Oprah’s girls’ school in South Africa.
Wired PR News – Seven students at Oprah Winfrey’s South African girls only school have reportedly been punished for violating the school’s code. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the students were expelled as a result of an alleged conduct code violation. The occurrence makes the second controversy related to the school made public since its opening in 2007.
As noted by the AP, specific details regarding the circumstances of the expulsions remain confidential due to the ages of the students.
Winfrey is quoted in the report as releasing the statement through her HARPO production company, “I’m disappointed that several of our students chose to disregard the school’s rules… It’s disheartening when any student has to be suspended or expelled and it’s a process that involves serious review and consideration. We will not tolerate a violation of school policy and dishonesty.”
