The recession has led to an increase in assisted living costs for Dallas senior citizens.
Wired PR News – Senior citizens in Dallas and other areas in the U.S. are reportedly paying higher fees for assisted living services due to the economic downturn. As reported by the Dallas Morning News, many are taking significant pinches in their wallets for housing, transportation, and other living expenses due to unexpected increases in fees associated with the operation of these kinds of living facilities.
Rafael Ayuso, an AARP Texas spokesperson, is quoted in the report as stating, “We’ve had anecdotal reports that this is happening around the country, and if it’s true, it represents a troubling trend… Housing is the single largest expense for older Americans, who already are stressed out about the state of the economy.”
Many are reportedly upset over cost cutting measures as well, that have led to differences in the quality of services received.
