The patriarch of the famed Winans family died this week.
Wired PR News – Gospel sensation Donald “Pop” Winans passed away last week in Tennessee. As reported by ChristainPRGroup.com, the singer and patriarch of the famous gospel family died at the age of 74. As quoted in the press release, a spokesperson released a statement on behalf of the family of the gospel star saying, “The Winans Family wishes to thank everyone for their prayers and continued support, but would appreciate privacy at this time… Please continue to keep the entire family in your prayers during their time of loss.”
Donald Winans and his wife Delores became widely known as the gospel duo, “Mom and Pop Winans.” The two earned a Grammy nomination in 1989. As noted in the press release Pop Winans became most well known for being the head of the award winning gospel family, “the Winans” which was comprised of his 10 children and other members.
Funeral services for the late singer are planned for this week, as noted in the press release.
