The federal government is looking to hire computer hackers to protect national networks.
Wired PR News – The federal government is reportedly seeking to hire computer hackers for the protection of national networks. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), an advertisement was put out through General Dynamics Information Technology for the Homeland Security Department seeking the services of someone who could identify weaknesses of federal computer systems and understand processes of hackers.
The information comes after a study was conducted by the White House regarding the United States’ preparedness for cyberattacks. David Powner with the Government Accountability Office is quoted as stating of the lack of a recovery plan for a digital catastrophe, “We’re clearly not as prepared as we should be.”
As noted by the AP, in a budget request last week for the Pentagon, Secretary of Defense Robert Gates reportedly stated the defense headquarters would nearly triple their number of trained cyberexperts each year.
