Ford May Survive Without Bailout
The auto giant may be saved from requiring a federal bailout for survival.
Wired PR News – Ford Motor Co. may have found its saving grace in its restructuring efforts. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the company’s earnings and new products may help it steer clear of intervention from the government.
Aaron Bragman with IHS Global Insight is quoted in the report as stating, “Ford is building the best stuff it’s ever made in terms of quality rankings and critical reviews… The vehicles are sufficiently improved and people are starting to realize that.”
As noted in the report, Ford’s fellow automakers General Motors Corp. and Chrysler LLC continue to require federal bailout assistance for sustainability. The Treasury Department recently stated that it granted GM an additional $2 billion in loans and may loan Chrysler another $500 million to sustain themselves during their restructuring processes.
