Convicted Businesswoman Misses Court in Asbestos Case - Mesothelioma cancer news
A woman who faces 230 years in prison for asbestos related case skips out on court date.
Wired PR News – A woman who faces 230 years in prison for a conviction on several charges including administering false asbestos removal training certificates reportedly skipped out on her sentencing hearing this week. As reported on Asbestos.net, an arrest warrant has been issued for Albania Deleon, who was found guilty on 28 charges last November, and recently failed to appear in court for sentencing.
As noted in the report, Deleon, who owned a training school for asbestos removal certification as well as a temporary staffing services company that reportedly specialized in asbestos removal, administered fake training certificates to a number of illegal immigrants.
Laws require that asbestos abatement or removal be handled by individuals who are properly trained in that area. Asbestos exposure can lead to mesothelioma cancer and other serious conditions.
