The president is set to nominate a Supreme Court justice in place of retiring justice David Souter.
Wired PR News –President Barack Obama remarked Friday on the qualities he’s seeking in his choice for a Supreme Court justice nominee to fill the soon to be open seat of retiring justice David Souter. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the sudden announcement of Souter’s impending retirement has many speculating on the replacement Obama will likely choose.
The president is quoted by the AP as stating at White House Press Room Friday, “I will seek someone who understands that justice isn’t about some abstract legal theory or footnote in a case book. It is also about how our laws affect the daily realities of people’s lives.”
As noted in the report, this will be the first Supreme Court nomination made by a Democrat in 15 years.
