Virus Outbreak Stalls Entertainment Ventures in Mexico

Hollywood decides to change summer plans for filming and promoting movies in Mexico due to swine flu outbreak.
Wired PR News – The swine flu is now playing a role in Hollywood filming and promotion decisions as studios decide to postpone certain ventures in Mexico due to the outbreak. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Hollywood studios have changed plans to begin releasing summer films in the country, which is noted to normally be a top foreign market for films from the United States.
Veronika Kwan-Rubinek, president of international distribution for Warner Bros, is quoted in the report as stating, “This is obviously a very fluid situation… Dates could continue to change based on current events as well as how competitive dates line up.”
As noted by the AP, some actors who had previous intentions of visiting Mexico to promote their recent releases have decided to delay their plans as well. Several theatres in the country have been temporarily closed.
