Dallas FightNight Death
Texas is reportedly set to review death of a boxer at FightNight match.
Wired PR News – A Houston boxer died Tuesday following a boxing match in Dallas. As reported by the Dallas Morning News, 24 year-old Benjamin Flores passed away at Parkland Memorial Hospital days after The Real Estate Council Foundation’s annual FrightNight fundraiser in Dallas.
Flores reportedly died of severe head injuries according to an autopsy. His death was ruled accidental. Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation spokesperson Susan Stanford is quoted in the report as stating of plans to review the boxing match, which was stopped short of 12 rounds at 8, “We will get statements from the people that were working the fight… This is standard procedure whenever there’s a serious injury or death.”
Michelle Corson The Real Estate Council President is quoted in the report as stating of the tragedy, “We’re just heartbroken.” Corson is further quoted as stating of Flores’ family, “It’s a boxing family… His father, Miguel, was his trainer and manager. He has a lovely wife and 10-month-old son.”
