General Motors Parts Factories Shut Down Temporarily
The company is set to close some of its plants in the US for several weeks.
Wired PR News – General Motors Corp. is set to shut down a number of its parts plants temporarily. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the automaker will shut down the factories because of plans to also shut down most of its vehicle manufacturing plants in the United States this summer.
As noted by the AP, the additional closings will impact over 18,000 GM workers; however, many may still receive pay in accordance with United Auto Workers union contracts and other policies. The plants expected to be shut down for the longest periods include those in Baltimore and Toledo, Kansas.
As further noted by the AP, GM announced last month that they would be closing down many of their US assembly plants due to an overstock of vehicle supplies and declining sales.
