Kindle Device Has Trouble with Obama Pronunciation
Amazon’s popular e-book reader can’t correctly state the president’s name.
Wired PR News – Amazon’s popular e-book reader device reportedly has some trouble with the president’s name. As reported by Christopher Null: The Working guy on Yahoo! Tech blog, the Kindle reader cannot correctly pronounce the name of President Barack Obama.
As stated on the Yahoo blog, The New York Times reported that the Kindle’s text to speech system’s pronunciation of Obama’s name sounds similar to “Brack Alabama.”
The company is reportedly set to soon release a patch that will fix the problem with the assistance of its partner Nuance. Steve Chambers with Nuance is quoted in a report by The New York Times as stating of the matter, “These things happen a lot… It’s not even considered a bug. If it encounters a word it has never seen, it approaches it almost like a kid, phonetically.”
