Teen Enters Guilty Plea in Online Scientology Attack
A 19 year-old pleads guilty to a web attack of the religious organization.
Wired PR News – A 19-year-old man has pleaded guilty to an online attack on the Church of Scientology. As reported by IDG News Service, Dmitriy Guzner entered a guilty plea for targeting the church in several attacks in January of last year, in which he knocked their website offline.
As noted in the report, Guzner belonged to the underground hacking group Anonymous, which promoted attacks on Scientology.org. The group is quoted as stating in one video posted on YouTube, “For the good of your followers, for the good of mankind and for our own enjoyment, we shall proceed to expel you from the Internet and systematically dismantle the Church of Scientology in its present form.”
Guzner is set to be sentenced in August for charges related to the hacking incidents, and faces up to 10 years in prison.
