Auto Dealers Rushing to Sell Means Bargains for Consumers
Dealerships offer more deals on vehicles due to time constraints for selling their inventory.
Wired PR News – With limited time to sell their vehicle inventory, many Chrysler dealerships are offering bargains on thousands of vehicles. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the dealerships, recently spurned by the financially struggling Chrysler corporation, have been left to devise plans for selling the vehicles on their lots by June 9, or possibly face significant losses.
Dave Champion with Consumer Reports magazine is quoted in the report as stating to consumers looking to purchase an automobile, “You’ve got some very good negotiating power… (Dealers are) really looking to shift this inventory. It’s just stacking up all around them.”
As noted by the AP, last week Chrysler requested that a bankruptcy court in New York release them from contracts with numerous dealers for restructuring purposes. General Motors resorted to similar measures and notified over 1,000 dealers that it was severing ties with them. However, GM has not filed for bankruptcy, therefore dealers for the company have an extended time frame for selling their remaining vehicles.
