The House rejected a measure to investigate Nancy Pelosi’s claims about waterboarding knowledge.

Wired PR News – Republicans have reportedly been calling for an investigation of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s claim that she was not aware that water boarding was being used against terrorism suspects. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Democrats were joined by two Republicans, Ron Paul from Texas and Walter Jones from North Carolina in blocking a measure to investigate Pelosi by a vote of 252-172.

As noted by the AP, Republicans were said to have called for the vote while Pelosi was attending a speaking engagement, and not present at the meeting. House Republican Leader John Boehner of Ohio is quoted in the report as stating of the measure, “To have this charge out there and not have it resolved I think is damaging to our intelligence efforts and certainly will have a chilling effect on our intelligence professionals around the world.”

As further noted by the AP, former Vice President Dick Cheney continues to insist that Pelosi has been briefed numerous times about the techniques used to interrogate terrorism suspects.
