Two Million Awarded in New York Hospital Wrongful Death Suit
The family of a woman who died on the floor of a New York hospital has be awarded two million dollars in a wrongful death lawsuit.
Wired PR News – Relatives of a woman who died on the floor of a New York hospital have settled a wrongful death claim against the city-owned medical facility. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the family of Esmin Green, who died in June of last year after sitting in the waiting room of Kings County Hospital Center in Brooklyn for almost 24 hours, has settled the lawsuit for $2 million.
As noted in the report, Green can be seen collapsing and no one attempting to help her, including hospital staff walking by. The video spawned outrage on a national scale when it was released publicly.
Sanford Rubenstein, an attorney for the family of Green, is quoted by the AP as stating of the settlement, “What remains most important to this family is the criminal culpability for those responsible for what happened and those who attempted to cover it up.”
