Obama Makes Court Justice Nomination
The president has chosen Sonia Sotomayor for Supreme Court justice.
Wired PR News — President Barack Obama has made his decision on Supreme Court justice nominee. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Obama nominated federal appeals judge Sonia Sotomayor for the position Tuesday.
Obama is quoted by the AP as stating that Sotomayor has earned the “respect of colleagues on the bench, the admiration of many lawyers who argue cases in her court and the adoration of her clerks, who look to her as a mentor.” Obama further remarked in his introduction of Sotomayor, “Along the way, she’s faced down barriers, overcome the odds and lived out the American dream that brought her parents here so long ago.”
Sotomayor is quoted in the report as stating of her attributes Tuesday, “I strive never to forget the real world consequences of my decisions on individuals, businesses and government.”
When confirmed, Sotomayor will be the third woman and the first Hispanic person in history appointed to the U.S. Supreme Court.
