U.S. Comments on North Korea Behavior
Defense Secretary Robert Gates is reportedly set to meet with foreign ministers in response to the most recent atomic test of North Korea.
Wired PR News – The U.S. commented on the recent atomic test of North Korea Wednesday, calling their actions “provocative and belligerent” as reported by the Associated Press (AP). Secretary of Defense Robert Gates is reportedly set to meet with foreign ministers in regards to seeking a unified response to the issue. The visit to Singapore to meet with leaders of Far East countries was said to have been preplanned, however, the atomic testing will now purportedly be the dominant issue for discussion in the meetings.
Secretary of State Hilary Clinton is quoted in the report as stating of the matter, “North Korea has made a choice… It has chosen to violate the specific language of the U.N. Security Council Resolution 1718. It has ignored the international community. It has abrogated the obligations it entered into through the six-party talks. And it continues to act in a provocative and belligerent manner toward its neighbors. There are consequences to such actions.”
