Leno Welcomes Successor as Final Tonight Guest
The comedian and talk show host bid farewell to the Tonight Show with final taping.
Wired PR News – Jay Leno ended his 17-year run as host of the celebrated nighttime program, the “Tonight” show on Friday. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Leno welcomed his successor Conan O’Brien as his final guest, and is quoted as telling him, “You were the perfect choice. You’ve been an absolute gentlemen in private and in the press.”
Leno is further quoted in the report as stating after showing his audience the 68 children of staffers born during his time hosting the program, “That’s what I’d like my legacy to be… When these kids grow up and they go, `Hey, mom and dad, where did you guys meet?’, they’re going to say they met on the stage of `The Tonight Show.”
Leno is set to return to NBC with a new program.
