A man has been charged in the death of abortion provider Dr. George Tiller.
Wired PR News – An anti-abortion activist has been charged in the killing of late-term abortion provider Dr. George Tiller. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Scott Roeder was charged with first-degree murder Tuesday for allegedly shooting the doctor in a church on Sunday. He also stands accused of assault for threatening individuals for trying to stop him in the process.
Operation Rescue president Troy Newman is quoted by the AP as stating of Roeder, “He was some guy on the fringe… Nobody knew him all that well other than his name.”
Roeder’s former wife, Lindsey Roeder, is also quoted in the report as stating of him, “The anti-tax stuff came first, and then it grew and grew. He became very anti-abortion.”
If convicted, Roeder may be sentenced to a mandatory life term in prison.
