Arabs Give Warning to Obama
The president is warned not to give lectures on democracy.
Wired PR News – President Barack Obama began his trip to the Middle East Wednesday, with many in the region giving stern advice on how he should address the Muslim world. As reported by AFP, many warned the U.S. president not to lecture them as the former president did or express favoritism of Israel.
As noted by AFP, Obama is set to give a speech in Cairo, Egypt on Thursday. An editorial in the Rose El-Youssef newspaper is quoted in the report as directing to Obama, “Don’t be biased towards Israel, don’t interfere in countries’ internal affairs and don’t give lessons in democracy.”
A spokesperson for Hamas, Fawzi Barhum, is further quoted in the report as stating, “We will judge this visit on the basis of what he will say and concrete measures that he will take.”
