Siblings Earn Top Graduating Honors
Two siblings graduate together at the top of their class.
Wired PR News – Two Irving high school siblings will graduate together at the top of their class. As reported by the Dallas Morning News, Karen and Brian Cárdenas are set to graduate from MacArthur High School in Irving as valedictorian and salutatorian respectively.
The two, which are reportedly often mistaken for twins, overcame many obstacles in earning their positions, including moving away from their mother in Columbia to the U.S. and not being able to speak any English. Pedro Alfonso Cárdenas Ossa, father of the two teens, is quoted in the report as stating of their journey, “Thanks to God, they have been given such an opportunity in this country, and their teachers have helped them so much.”
Karen is further quoted as stating, “Life hasn’t necessarily been easy, but we’ve certainly worked hard… There are struggles. That doesn’t mean we have to give up.”
