Yahoo CEO Says Microsoft Deal Not Needed
A deal with Microsoft is reportedly not necessary despite speculation.
Wired PR News – Yahoo! CEO, Carol Bartz, remarked Wednesday on speculation about a deal between Yahoo! And Microsoft. As reported by AFP, Bartz stated that such a deal was not needed for the company’s success.
Bartz is quoted by AFP as stating at a conference Wednesday, “Yahoo! doesn’t have to do anything with Microsoft about anything… Yahoo! actually has a bright, bright future, probably cleaner and simpler future without thinking there’s any Microsoft connection. We’d be better off if we’d never heard the word Microsoft.” Bartz is further quoted to have remarked, “Forget about the Microsoft stuff, it’s honestly not that relevant.”
As noted in the report, Yahoo! has a 20 percent share of the online search market and Microsoft 8 percent, according to recent industry tracking firm data. Google is said to be in the lead with 60 percent.
