Family Seeks Pardon for Deceased Loved One
A Fort Worth family seeks to have the criminal record of a deceased loved one cleared of rape charges.
Wired PR News – A family in Fort Worth is seeking a pardon for a relative who died in prison after being wrongly convicted of rape. As reported by CBS 11 News, the family of Tim Cole may see an unexpected delay of two more years in the process due to a setback with the Texas Legislature.
As noted in the report, Cole was exonerated after his death for a 1986 rape conviction, after being cleared by DNA testing. His family is currently awaiting a pardon from Texas governor Rick Perry to clear his name.
Cole’s brother Cory Sessions is quoted in the report as stating of the recent delay, “It was a setback. We’re a little disappointed. But, we waited 25 years and we’re prepared to wait 25 more years. My mother firmly believes she’ll get that pardon from the governor.”
