Shooting at Holocaust Museum in D.C.
A gunman opened fire at a Holocaust museum in Washington D.C.
Wired PR News – A gunman opened fire upon entering a Holocaust museum in Washington D.C. on Wednesday. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the elderly assailant James Von Brunn was said to be in critical condition after shooting a security guard and then being shot himself. Von Brunn is reportedly a suspected white supremacist, who operates an anti-Semantic website.
Police Chief Cathy Lanier is quoted by the AP as stating of the incident at the United States Memorial Holocaust Museum, “The second he stepped into the building he began firing.”
As noted in the report, the shooting occurred the week following President Barack Obama’s visit to a German concentration camp at Buchenwald. Obama is quoted as having stated at the time, “There are those who insist the Holocaust never happened… This place is the ultimate rebuke to such thoughts, a reminder of our duty to confront those who would tell lies about our history.”
