Chastity Bono Decides to Undergo Gender Reassignment
The daughter of Sonny and Cher has announced she is undergoing a sex change operation.
Wired PR News – Chastity Bono has revealed plans to undergo a sex change. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), a spokesman for the child of former famed singing duo Sonny and Cher stated of Chastity’s transition from female to male that he “has made the courageous decision to honor his true identity” and that he hopes “that his choice to transition will open the hearts and minds of the public regarding this issue.”
As noted by the AP, Bono, 40, has written two books, “Family Outing: A Guide to the Coming-Out Process for Gays, Lesbians, & Their Families” and “The End of Innocence: A Memoir” in which he discusses coming out as gay and relationships with his parents and others afterward.
As further noted in the report, Bono began working with the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) in 1995.
