Florida Teenager Charged for Cat Torture
A teenager in Florida has been charged with killing and mutilating several cats.
Wired PR News – A teenager has been charged in the killings of numerous cats in two South Florida neighborhoods. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Tyler Hayes Weinman, a teen who reportedly killed and mutilated several cats in the neighborhoods of his divorced parents, has been charged with animal cruelty and improper disposal of the bodies of the animals.
Over 30 cat deaths have reportedly been investigated in the area since May. Thomas Shad, a resident whose cat was one of those found dead, is quoted in the report as stating, “It’s shocking to think that someone who lives right here and is our neighbor would do something like this.”
Shad is further quoted as stating of the arrest, “Now we feel like we can let our cats out of the patio…Perhaps we have part of our life back.”
Forensic psychology professor Louis B. Schlesinger is quoted by the AP as stating of the need for an evaluation of the teen, “When you kill cats, disembowel them and cut their heads off, that is not a good sign and you do not have to be Sigmund Freud to see that.”
