Teen Earns Fastest Texter Title
A teen in Iowa becomes the country’s texting champion.
Wired PR News – An Iowa teen has put her texting skills to good use. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), 15 year-old Kate Moore became the winner of the L.G. U.S. National Texting Championship Tuesday, which earned her $50,000 in prize money.
The Des Moines teenager reportedly averages 14,000 texts per month, having acquired the skills only eight months after being given a cell phone. As noted by the AP, Moore competed with 20 other finalists and sped through two days of contest categories. The winner was declared by who had the most speed and accuracy in the texting challenges.
Moore is quoted in the report as stating after her victory, “Let your kid text during dinner! Let your kid text during school! It pays off…Your kid could win money and publicity and a phone.”
