Democrats Question Voting Power for Health Plan
Some in the president’s party are reportedly questioning whether there are enough votes to pass his comprehensive health plan.
Wired PR News – Some are questioning whether President Barack Obama’s plan for health care has enough votes to pass in the House and Senate. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), in an attempt to reach a consensus between parties for the plan Republicans and Democrats project that money saving measures would likely be required to ensure passage of a plan for widespread restructuring of the health care system.
Sen. Chuck Grassley is quoted in the report as stating “So we’re in the position of dialing down some of our expectations to get the costs down so that it’s affordable and, most importantly, so that it’s paid for because we can’t go to the point where we are now of not paying for something when we have trillions of dollars of debt… And we anticipate paying for it through some savings and Medicare, and from some increases in revenue.”
