Obama Reacts to Violence Against Protestors
The president denounces violence against protesters in Iran.
Wired PR News – President Barack Obama gave a stern response to the violence against protesters of the recent presidential election in Iran. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Obama condemned the violence Tuesday following the shooting death of a 26 year-old woman in Tehran.
As noted in the report, the president did not specify what actions would be taken by the U.S. on the matter; however, he stated that a continuation of “the threats, the beatings and imprisonments” would warrant consequences for the country’s leaders.
Obama is quoted by the AP as stating of the issue, “We don’t know yet how this thing is going to play out… It is not too late for the Iranian government to recognize that there is a peaceful path that will lead to stability and legitimacy and prosperity for the Iranian people. We hope they take it.”
