Dallas Wrong Way Crashes Prompt Attention
Authorities are seeking ways to minimize accidents caused by wrong way drivers in Dallas.
Wired PR News – A series of recent accidents by wrong way drivers in Dallas have prompted authorities to look into what preventative measures may be helpful in diminishing the number of such occurrences. As reported by the Dallas Morning News, North Texas Tollway Authority officials attribute much of the issue to intoxicated drivers and have expressed intentions on researching means to warn drivers if someone is headed towards them going the wrong way.
As noted in the report, some areas have decreased the number of wrong-way driving incidents with detection sensors, flashing warning signs, reflection pavement arrows, and other mechanisms. Tracy Marks with TransCore is quoted by the Dallas Morning News as stating of the benefit of detection systems, “You can’t physically have enough people to see every section of the roadway… That’s why it’s important to get an alert.”
