Brothers Indicted on Asbestos Charges
A Massachusetts man and his brother have been charged with asbestos violations.
Mesothelioma Cancer News (Norton, Massachusetts) – A Massachusetts man and his brother have been charged with violating the Clean Air Act in connection with the improper removal of asbestos. As reported by the Wicked Local, Shaun Amaral and Arthur Amaral, Northeast Demolition and Removal foreman and owner respectively, have been accused of improper removal of asbestos from more than one property.
As noted in the report, the brothers have been indicted on five counts of Clean Air Act violations, which include failure to file the proper notices with the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection prior to completing demolition projects. Workers were reportedly instructed by the Amarals to proceed with demolition work before properly removing asbestos.
As further noted, an investigation of the issue was led by the Massachusetts Environmental Crimes Strike Force (ECSF).
