Palin to Resign as Alaska Governor
The former vice presidential candidate is resigning from her position as governor of Alaska.
Press Release Service – Wired PR News – Alaska governor Sarah Palin has announced plans to resign from her position. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Palin announced her intentions on Friday to resign at the end of July, which has led many to question whether she has plans for the 2012 presidential race.
Palin is quoted by the AP as remarking in a statement, “Once I decided not to run for re-election, I also felt that to embrace the conventional Lame Duck status in this particular climate would just be another dose of politics as usual, something I campaigned against and will always oppose.”
Palin is further quoted as stating, “It is my duty to always protect our great state. With that in mind, my family and I determined that it is best to make a difference this summer, and I am willing to change things, so that this administration, with its positive agenda, its accomplishments, and its successful road to an incredible future, can continue without interruption and with great administrative and legislative success.”
As noted by the AP, Palin’s popularity as governor of the state decreased following her run for vice president.
