Walkman Now 30 Years Old

The once popular music listening device reaches a milestone.
Press Release Service - Wired PR News – Many music fans today are too young to remember, but before the iPod, there was another music listening device that took the world by storm, the Walkman. As reported by the San Francisco Chronicle, one teen decided to try out the music player and offered feedback on it just as it approached its 30th birthday.
As noted in the report, Scott Campbell, 13, detailed on a news Website he - its, his adventures in discovering the “ancient” Walkman, which turned out to be a not so pleasant surprise. Campbell is quoted by the Chronicle as stating, “My dad had told me it was the iPod of its day… He had told me it was big, but I hadn’t realized he meant that big. It was the size of a small book.”
The 13 year-old further criticized various aspects of the device including its appearance, functionality, and “odd warbly noises” stating, “Did my dad … really ever think this was a credible piece of technology.”
