A monorail train crash Sunday fatally injures a Disney employee.
Press Release Service – Wired PR News – A monorail train crash at Walt Disney World early Sunday resulted in the death of a train operator. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), two monorail trains in the resort’s Magic Kingdom crashed at around 2:00 a.m., fatally injuring one of the train’s operators. The other was reportedly not injured, but subsequently taken to a hospital due to his emotional state.
Michael Griffin, a Disney spokesman, is quoted by the AP as stating of accidents in the park, “They are extremely rare… The safety of our guests and cast are a top priority above all else.” Bo Jones with the Reedy Creek Fire Department is further quoted in the report as stating of the accident, “To see the accident, to see the scene of what had happened and the fact that there was a life that was lost, it was very sad. It was very somber.”
The circumstances surrounding the crash, and what may have caused it, are reportedly still being investigated.
