An ordinance banning public dancing in the early morning hours may soon be lifted.
Press Release Service – Wired PR News – A ban on dancing in the early morning hours may soon be lifted in the largest city in Iowa. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), a not so well known Des Moines city ordinance that outlaws public dancing between 2 and 6 in the morning may be repealed after the tentative approval of a proposal to do so was granted on Monday.
As noted by the AP, a final decision on the ordinance is set to be made in August. Zachary Mannheimer, Executive Director of the nonprofit Des Moines Social Club is quoted in the report as stating of the law, “It’s a silly law that shouldn’t exist and the law shows we aren’t keeping up with the times.” The ordinance is said to date back to 1942 or earlier.
