The woman known for her role in Roe vs. Wade was arrested during a hearing for Justice nominee Sonia Sotomayor.
Press Release Service – Wired PR News – The Dallas woman who was part of the landmark abortion rights case Roe vs. Wade was arrested Monday during protests against Supreme Court justice nominee Sonia Sotomayor during her confirmation hearing. As reported by the Dallas Morning News, Norma McCorvey, who is legally known as Jane Roe in the case, is being charged for disrupting the hearing along with several other protestors.
McCorvey was the plaintiff in the 1973 lawsuit in which the High Court ruled in favor of abortion rights for women. As noted in the report, the now 61 year-old later regretted her role in making abortion legal, and has since campaigned with pro-life activists seeking to have the ruling overturned.
