Russell Brand Set to Again Host MTV Awards
The British actor and comedian will host the VMAs for a second year in a row.
Press Release Service – Wired PR News – MTV has announced that Russell Brand, the British actor and comedian who hosted last year’s Video Music Awards, will be back for a second time to host the show for 2009. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Brand, known for his pokerfaced humor, was a crowd pleaser for last year’s show and was asked to return. Brand, a reported fan of the Jonas Brothers whom he notably mocked for their purity rings at last year’s ceremony, is quoted in the report as stating, “I’m gonna personally invite them because I love those boys…There will be some controversy.”
As noted by the AP, the format for the broadcast will include staging at different venues. Country music star Taylor Swift is reportedly expected to perform, with other acts set to be announced at a later date.
MTV’s 2009 VMAs will be held on September 13 in New York.
