Sotomayor Vows to Remain Impartial

The Supreme Court Justice nominee stands firm against racial bias claims.
Press Release Service – Wired PR News – Supreme Court justice nominee Sonia Sotomayor faced tough criticism Tuesday as GOP senators pressed the issue of racial bias being a potential factor if she is confirmed to the High Court. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Sotomayor stressed during the confirmation hearing that she would remain impartial exhibiting what many deemed very strong composure throughout the grueling day of questioning.
Sotomayor is quoted in the report as stating during Tuesday’s hearing when asked about her “wise Latina” comment years prior, “I want to state upfront, unequivocally and without doubt: I do not believe that any racial, ethnic or gender group has an advantage in sound judging… I do believe that every person has an equal opportunity to be a good and wise judge, regardless of their background or life experiences.”
If confirmed Sotomayor will be the first Hispanic woman to obtain a seat on the Supreme Court.
