A new study suggests that taller individuals have higher incomes.
Press Release Service – Wired PR News – A new study suggests that height can have an impact on the amount of money people earn. As reported by LiveScience, researchers in Australia found that being taller can increase a person’s annual income.
Researchers of the study are quoted in the report as stating, “Taller people are perceived to be more intelligent and powerful.” Andrew Leigh of the Australian National University, who co-authored the study, is further quoted as stating, “Our estimates suggest that if the average man of about 178 centimeters [5 feet 10 inches] gains an additional five centimeters [2 inches] in height, he would be able to earn an extra $950 per year – which is approximately equal to the wage gain from one extra year of labor market experience.” Studies in the U.S. and other countries have also shown comparable results.
More information about the study may be found in the recent publication of the Economic Record.
