Genes May Be Predictors for Brain Cancer Survival
A new study links seven genes to brain cancer survival.
Press Release Service – Wired PR News – A new study suggests that seven genes could predict patient brain cancer survival. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), researchers examined gene profiles of hundreds of cancer patients and found seven genes that may be predictors for the extent of cancer aggression in some cases.
Dr. Boris Pasche of University of Alabama at Birmingham is quoted by the AP as stating of the study and other research on genes and glioblastomas, “I am quite optimistic that if we find the Achilles heel of this tumor, and there may be more than one, and if we can target them, we may see significant improvement in survival.”
The research was published Wednesday in the Journal of the American Medical Association.
