Mesothelioma Cancer News (Salinas, California) – The charges against a company accused of mishandling asbestos during a courthouse renovation project have been dismissed. As reported by the Herald Salinas Bureau, prosecutors agreed to formally dismiss charges against Nova Partners Inc. due a prior plea arrangement. However, the company, based in Palo Alto, may still be subjected to civil lawsuits, after pleading no contest in the case, and agreeing to a series of terms.

The charges were initially brought after the company reportedly ignored warnings and allowed workers to proceed with renovations that resulted in asbestos being shifted into an area linked to a building’s ventilation system. The charges were dismissed after they were found to be in compliance with outlined terms in their agreement, which included payment of certain costs, the implementation of training programs for workers, and other demands.
