Press Release Service – Wired PR News – The robbery of a bank in Manhattan, New York was tweeted Tuesday by Annemarie Dooling, a 26-year-old web producer who was present during the occurence. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), under her Twitter name, TravelingAnna, Dooling tweeted over 1,500 followers regarding her presence in the midst of the heist. Dooling is quoted as stating in one tweet, “My bank was just held up — with me in it. HSBC 34 and 8.” Dooling reportedly entered the bank near Manhattan’s Penn Station that morning to make a deposit.

As quoted by the AP, some of Dooling’s tweets included,

• “they won’t let us leave the bank.”
• “police just arrived. maybe they’ll let me go now.”
• “oh now we’re discussing ‘Heat.’ Some bank robbery comedy going on here folks, come on down … im the sad one in the window.”

As noted in the report, Dooling received criticism following her actions because some believed she should have taken the time to notify police instead of tweeting at that time. Dooling is quoted as stating in an email to the AP in defense of her actions, “Honestly, the cops were called and everyone was safe and my main concern was reaching out to my friends, fam, and co-workers, which is why I tweeted.”
