David Letterman tops his late night rival in Nielson ratings two out of three weeks.

Press Release Service – Wired PR News — CBS talk show giant David Letterman has come out on top in late night talk show ratings for two of the last three weeks. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Letterman’s “Late Show” exceeded Conan O’Brien’s “Tonight” show in Nielson ratings by close to 800,000 viewers last week, with the help of guests like Paul McCartney. This is noted to be a huge success compared to previous ratings losses to the “Tonight” show during the time that Jay Leno was the host.

David Poltrack, chief researcher for CBS, is quoted by the AP as stating, “We feel we’ve got the momentum going for us right now and we feel very confident.”

According to recent records, Letterman’s viewing audience averaged 3.68 million last week, while O’Brien came in at 2.82 million. Both shows; however, remain very popular.
